Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force

The Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force has arrested:

April 5th 2022 – Tasheka O. Smith 37 of Youngsville was arrested and charged with Welfare Fraud in the 3rd Degree a Class D Felony and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree a Class E Felony.  It is alleged that Smith stole $4,565.00 in SNAP Benefits by failing to disclose to the Department of Social Services that she was employed while collecting SNAP benefits.  It is further alleged that Smith submitted an application for SNAP Benefits knowing it contained false information.  Smith was processed and released on an Appearance Ticket to return to the Town of Liberty Court at a later date.

April 12th 2022 – Edward Monahan 40 of Monticello was arrested by Investigators from the Task Force, Sheriff’s Deputies, Sullivan County Probation and Monticello Police.  Monahan was taken into custody on a Bench Warrant for failing to appear in the Town of Liberty Court on April 6th 2022.  Monahan was originally arrested for threatening physical harm to a Department of Social Services Employee.  Monahan was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail.

April 15th 2022 – Jeremy Hewlett 33 of Monticello was arrested by Investigators from the Task Force, Sheriff’s Deputies and Monticello Police.  Hewlett was taken into custody on a Bench Warrant for failing to appear in the Town of Liberty Court.  Hewlett was turned over to the Village of Liberty Police Department, arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail.

April 20th 2022 – Rosetta A. Williams 30 of Loch Sheldrake was arrested by Investigators from the Task Force and Sheriff’s Deputies after she surrendered herself on a Bench Warrant for failing to appear in the Town of Liberty Court on a previous Welfare Fraud arrest.  Williams was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail pending a future court appearance.

April 21st 2022 – Rosalyn J. Crandell 39 of Monticello was arrested by Investigators from the Task Force and Sheriff’s Deputies after she surrendered herself on a Bench Warrant for failing to appear in the Town of Liberty Court on 04/06/2022 for a prior Welfare Fraud arrest.  Crandell was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail pending a future court appearance.
