WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – A Watertown woman faces welfare fraud and other charges.

Papers filed in Watertown city court say 30-year-old Brittany Beutel of Starbuck Avenue allegedly received $7,707 in SNAP benefits to which she wasn’t entitled.

Documents say she allegedly filed an application for benefits in September 2022 that misrepresented the makeup of her household.

Beutel was charged with misuse of food stamps, third-degree welfare fraud, third-degree grand larceny, and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

She was arraigned on the charges in city court on Wednesday and released.
